Community Rail Lancashire is looking for 100 unique rail journey stories from 100 women around the world – stories that will make others laugh, cry and be inspired. Submitted stories will be collated together in a book that will be launched on International Women’s Day – 8 March 2021. The book will be distributed around the U.K with the aim to raise awareness and funds for Women’s Aid’s ‘Rail to Refuge’ scheme.
Community Rail Lancashire would like stories of journeys from those working in the industry to inspire a new generation of railway employees and also from those passengers who have had memorable experiences. Did you meet your partner on a train? Did you make a friend on a trip? Have you used the railway to escape a bad situation? Can you remember the journeys you took as a child? Or when the railways looked a little different? Is your story about a journey in a different country. The entries will:
- be between 5-10 sentences long;
- come with a photograph of yourself, your journey, or an object that represents your journey;
- be named or anonymous – it’s your call.
