Celebrating VE Day the virtual way

Celebrating VE Day the virtual way

5 May, 2020

While many planned community rail activities have been cancelled or postponed due to current lockdown regulations, Bedford to St. Albans City CRP have found a way to ensure that their planned VE Day celebrations will still take place.

The partnership will be hosting their VE75 Concert over the weekend of the 7-11 May online, featuring vintage harmony singing group The Femmes, who took part in the launch of the CRP at St Albans on the D Day 7th Anniversary last year.

The Femmes have been working hard polishing their performance, which, because of the lockdown, will be broadcast on the group’s YouTube channel. The concert will be around 40 minutes in length and will feature a number of popular WW2 songs, concluding with a very special Vera Lynn medley incorporating all seven of The Femmes (a first!).

A short video has been produced giving people a flavour of what to expect over the weekend.
