Community Rail News – 26 January 2022

Hi everyone, We hope you’re well. This week will see the lifting of Plan B restrictions in England, with working from home guidance, COVID passports and mandatory face coverings being scrapped tomorrow. Whilst we welcome the news, we recommend you continue to check with your train operator(s) on their messaging and advice on keeping safe.

Community Rail Week dates

We are pleased to confirm Community Rail Week will return on 23 – 29 May 2022. Community rail partnerships, station groups and all our partners are encouraged to take part, to raise awareness and highlight the incredible work of community rail. More details will be coming out in the next week around this year’s theme, with suggestions on how you can get involved. In the meantime, if you have questions or want to discuss ideas, please contact Alice or Sarah.

Great British Railways webinar and call for evidence

Book now for our webinar with the Great British Railways Transition Team, Tues 1 Feb, 4-5pm. As well as hearing about the team’s priorities, it will be a chance to ask questions and reflect on how community rail can play an increasingly important role. Book here.

Don’t forget, the Transition Team’s call for evidence on the Whole Industry Strategic Plan is open until 4 Feb, and you can respond to whichever questions are relevant to your experiences. Community Rail Network is compiling a comprehensive response drawing on evidence from across the movement.

Community Rail Conference

Chairs and officers of community rail partnerships should have received invitations to this year’s Community Rail Conference taking place in Nottingham, 7 – 8 March. You will find further details on our events diary, including a draft agenda with some exciting sessions planned. Please book early to secure your place.

Website review

We have carried out a review of our website and will be introducing some changes over the next few months. These improvements should make the site easier to navigate and more user-friendly. We will also be including our overarching activities calendar with upcoming events, webinars and training sessions, key campaign dates and other important dates throughout the year.

Your next bulletin is on 9 February. Keep up-to-date in between on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. As always, if you have comments or stories, please email news@communityrail.org.uk

Best Wishes

Jools & Richard
