Whilst rail tourism has been massively impacted by travel restrictions, Community Rail Lancashire‘s DalesRail initiative has been looking back at great journeys along the line and whetting the appetite of tourists for when travel restrictions are lifted.
The DalesRail website has been sharing many interesting experiences about journeys taken by tourists visiting the Yorkshire and Lancashire Dales. DalesRail is also looking is also looking for tourists to the area to share their interesting stories, favourite walks, fascinating anecdotes and pictures to accompany create a ‘Virtual DalesRail’. These will build a great picture of what the iconic DalesRail service has to offer and encourage tourists to return by rail when the service resumes in 2021. Contact details can be found here.
DalesRail is provides much more than a scenic train ride. It is an integrated package encouraging active travel and providing a full day out. Information about destinations, an extensive guided walk programme led by experienced leaders from the Lancashire Rail Ramblers, and the coach links that extend the rail journey to places the train cannot reach, can all be found on its website.
