Goostrey is batty about biodiversity

26 Sep, 2019
Goostrey Cubs help to increase wildlife diversity at Goostrey station by building a bug hotel.

Friends of Goostrey Station are trying to make the area around the station more wildlife friendly, with the help of a local Cub group. Bird and bat boxes were carefully erected earlier in the year, using a bat detector we are delighted to be able to confirm that Pipistrelle bats have been identified and nesting blue-tits have been spotted.

The various species and habitats are being recorded using a geographical information system with software that creates maps.  In the future, plant species that encourage wildlife will be introduced.
