Helping the community to cycle back to health in Farncombe

Surrey Hills to South Downs Community Rail Partnership have been encouraging locals to get outside and explore the area safely by bike with the first in a series of Cycle Back to Health workshops at Farncombe Railway Station.

Funded by Community Rail Network and supported by South Western Railway, the workshop featured Marc the Cycologist providing essential safety checks to 29 bikes throughout the day to help get people moving safetly on two wheels. Those in need of a little more confidence using a bike were given hands-on advice and tips to improve their skills and were taught basic road safety skills.

Visitors were encouraged to pop into the local station cafe, Ritual Coffee UK, for delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches too.

Here are just a few quotes received from the day:

‘What an excellent service, so reassuring that my family and I are using safe and properly looked after bicycles.’ David D

What a fabulous opportunity to have the safety plus check. Bike enthusiasts are lucky people – generous in sharing their expertise. Thank you all.‘ Rona B

I just wanted to say thanks for your help I received today, getting me on a bike. I have been motivated to look for a class and find a bike.’ Debby
