I am professionally qualified in marketing, a Chartered Marketer, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (FCIM) and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. Until recently I was deputy bid director for Abellio UK’s bid team managing a team of multi-disciplined permanent and contract staff. This involved managing change and driving innovation in a dynamic environment and extensive dialogue with stakeholders including Department for Transport, Transport for Wales and Transport Scotland.
I have been active in community rail for nearly 20 years and became an Honorary Member of ACoRP in 2005. I have presented widely on community rail, provided marketing input to the highly successful Interreg Project and run community rail seminars on behalf of the Department for Transport to raise awareness of marketing.
I have extensive board level experience in the industry. As commercial director I held statutory directorships at Cardiff Railway Company Limited (1997-2003) and Wales & West Passenger Trains Limited (1999-2005) and was also statutory director of National Rail Enquiry Service Limited (2001-2002). Outside of rail I served on the management board of Falmouth University as Director of Marketing & External Affairs (2005-2012).
I have an extensive portfolio of innovation projects including one of the first community rail designations on the St Ives line with an agreed list of ambitious derogations and the introduction of cost-effective ticket machines. I worked with Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership on the development and implementation of the Tamar Valley Carnet. More recently I was the architect of the ACoRP map and sponsorship of the Scenic Rail Britain website by Abellio.
