Mid Cheshire CRP news round up

Welcome to community rail Sarah

Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership is pleased to announce the recruitment of a new community rail officer, Sarah Morgan. Sarah had previously worked for local town and parish councils and in prison and community drug and alcohol services before joining the partnership and have been a regular commuter on the Mid Cheshire line.

She is currently working through the community rail accreditation process for the partnership and is looking forward to working on the new activity plan. There promises to be some great projects lined up for the coming year and fantastic support from local communities, volunteers, and funding partners.

Altrincham Interchange gains poetry platform

The partnership was approached by the Friends of Altrincham Interchange to help restore the planters on the station’s platform, when it was noticed that there was a couple of redundant notice boards on platform 4 that could be put to good use. A platform poetry board immediately came to mind.

With permissions from Northern to proceed, the group contacted local poet, Pam Bradshaw to select a number of poems for the display, a train theme being the first. Pam set about writing poems about a hare and a rabbit on their train journeys from Altrincham. To date three of their poetic adventures have been displayed.

In addition to the poetry display, new barrel planters have recently been purchased Platform 4 with funding from the CRP. The planters will be painted in Northern’s blue to match the rest of the station, when volunteer activities can be resumed.
