North Notts and Lincs CRP secure improved service in rural Lincolnshire

2 Sep, 2019

Fresh on the heels of securing a new train service between Gainsborough Central and Sheffield (the first regular service for 25 years), Stagecoach East Midlands, the bus company partner of the North Notts and Lincs CRP have improved the frequency of buses between Lincoln and Gainsborough from hourly to half hourly as a result of a request made by the CRP. The half hour frequency now allows buses to connect with trains to and from Leeds at Gainsborough Lea Road station.

Between Lea Road station and Saxilby the buses use two different routes providing  an hourly service to a variety of villages, three of which have never experienced such frequent public transport. It enables villagers to access the railway at two stations that have very limited parking.

The Call Connect demand responsive bus will ferry passengers from outlying villages to these improved services, helping to reduce rural isolation and deprivation. To encourage residents to use the improved rail and bus services, the CRP has published the Gainsborough Travel Guide distributed to every home by the Town Council. The guide is designed and printed by bus company partner Stagecoach.
