Reigate Station Gallery installs first display piece

A photograph of the Flying Scotsman is the first addition to the Reigate Station Gallery.

The first item of the Reigate Station Gallery has been installed, a beautiful photograph of the Flying Scotsman passing by the station’s signal box. The image was kindly shared by, local photographer Nick Rogers.

The gallery project, which has been funded by through Community Rail Network’s small grants fund, has given Southeast Communities Rail Partnership the opportunity to engage with wider sections of the local community who in turn have made surprising and unexpected contributions to the project.  Staff from train the operator, Southern have also embraced the project with a real enthusiasm.

The gallery will be displaying railway memorabilia provided by station staff, photographic project courtesy of students from East Surrey College, a history of the station project, a wildflower garden (although that may not appear properly until next Spring), and some fabulous seasonal planting in window boxes.
