Silent soldiers of St Anne’s

The Lancashire seaside town of St Anne’s remembers those who have fallen with the unveiling of six silent soldiers at the town’s station. The silhouettes were unveiled by Town Mayor Cllr. Karen Henshaw and Town Crier Colin Ballard. The six ‘soldiers’ had been made for the station by the friends group, each was modified to take a planter at the base in which were placed winter flowering bedding plants, artificial poppies and painted pebbles.

New combined planters and seats are set to add some floral colour at for Squires Gate Station. The planters, situated on platform one, will be displaying a bloom of daffodil and crocus come the spring months.

It is hoped that the station will  have a fully fledged friends group representing the station very soon.  The planters were funded through ACoRP’s Small Grants Fund, with matched funding from Northern.
