Sussex CRP has organised photographic competition to engage with one of their station partner groups. Members of County Care were invited to photograph their home-based VE Day commemoration picnics. Faye (pictured above) was the lucky winner, organising her own picnic complete with decorations and a ‘stay safe’ banner. Train operator, Southern has generously offered to award her with a prize.
County Care group, are a group of young adults who attend day care. They are valued SCRP station partners, who work hard looking after the planting at several of Southern’s stations and have even taken the decision to run their own allotment to ensure as soon as they can all get back work, their stations will have a lovely supply of own grown flowers and plants.
For several years a part of their activity programme has been to volunteer as gardeners at several of SCRP’s stations. Gardening projects have had to be cut during the current pandemic, which leaves the members of the group unable to meet-up and miss out on their regular activities. The lack of social activity and interaction has been difficult for everybody, but perhaps even more so for some. Various activities have being organised by both SCRP and Southern such as dedicated Facebook groups. As the competition was such a success, SCRP will shortly be holding another one for the group.
