Sussex CRP show off Get Into Trains project

21 Apr, 2020
Sussex CRP’s “Get Into Trains” initiative (video shot before lockdown).

Sussex Community Rail Partnership (SCRP) has been working with Culture Shift, a community interest company that creates relationships between the creative and cultural sector and the community, business and education partners, to make trains more accessible.

Their joint project, “Get Into Trains” combines train travel training and arts workshop, and the first was recently held at Lewes station. It was funded by Community Rail Network, Culture Shift and Tesco Bags for Life.

The partnership has recently created a video (shot before lockdown), showing the range of activities that had taken place at their stations, including looking at station history, creating railway based artwork, and how the project has brought adults with learning disabilities together to provide more confidence travelling by train. Sussex CRP are now looking at a joint Heritage Lottery funding bid with Culture Shift to expand the programme.

Take a look at this wonderful project by viewing the video above and don’t forget to like on the partnership’s YouTube page.
