Transport for Wales – community rail ambassador vacancy

  • Location: Wrexham
  • Salary: £24k
  • Application deadline: 20 May 2021

A great opportunity to join Transport for Wales (TfW) as a community rail ambassador to connect communities to their railways, in conjunction with our commitment to the Well-being of Future Generations Act to improve social, cultural, environmental and economic well-being, the postholder will reach out to and engage with local communities and stakeholders, promoting the positive benefits of public transport.

You’ll work with the Community Rail Manager to develop and deliver a Community Activity Plan that reflects the Community Rail Strategy, by researching the geographical area of responsibility to develop a complete view of appropriate community stakeholders to develop the plan.

You’ll enable people with mental health, social or psychological difficulties and those who feel isolated and low on confidence to use the rail network. You will do this by working with health, social and 3rd sector organisations to organise accessibility trips including ticket machine training, that breaks down barriers by demonstrating the ease and safe use of the network.

You’ll actively engage with schools, sports clubs and youth organisations by delivering a rail safety education message to promote safety on the railways, discourage anti-social behaviour, take pride in local station, encourage volunteering e.g. recruiting new volunteers for station adoption

You’ll have regular engagement with station adopters by liaising with a portion of the 200 various adopters by looking at reports and discussing community based feedback to enhance the relationship and seek local input into activity plan.
