The World Cup of Stations returns

Rail Delivery Group’s popular World Cup of Stations makes a welcome return to social media from Monday 11 October. This year’s tournament aims to highlight the many great railway stations across the UK, many adopted by community rail station groups, to promote the value of rail to local communities and encourage people back to the railway. In addition, the campaign will show the importance of rail travel to the UK economy – essential to the post-Covid recovery, and communicate the vital role that Britain’s railway plays in helping to connect passengers to business, attractions, and family and friends. Previous holders of the trophy include Huddersfield and Glasgow Queen Street.

Community rail groups are encouraged to nominate their station for a place in the group stages, showcasing destination stations that can be used to access the countryside, for shopping, city breaks etc. as well as local stations as the way to get onto the wider rail network for work or to see family. Nominations can be made on the RDG website, using the nomination form. Nomination deadline is Sunday 3 October 2021.
