Did you know how much of Britain’s coast is possible to walk by rail?
To celebrate 200 years of the railways, from early May to late July 2025 Railwalks.co.uk will be walking the best-served stretches in every region and nation.
Railwalks.co.uk was set up in 2024 to promote walks from stations and/or accessible by rail, with the support and involvement of several community rail partnerships and station groups.
The Railwalks.co.uk regional coastal pages show hundreds of coastal walks served by railway stations, and this summer founder Steve Melia will be organising a 600-mile walk, in eight regional stretches between 93 stations, around the coast of Britain, with many Railwalks supporters (including those from community rail) joining him at different points along the way.
Could your community rail partnership or station group get involved?
If you would like to join any of the walks, find the full details on the itinerary and register your interest here.
