‘All Aboard’ artwork celebrates diverse communities in Aldershot

Passengers at Aldershot Station can now enjoy a vibrant new art installation in the station underpass.

The ‘All Aboard’ artwork is the result of a collaborative project between Wey Valley Community Rail Partnership (CRP), University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Rushmoor Borough Council, Network Rail, South Western Railway and local signage company Reade Signs.

Created by Brianna Chartrand, a BA Illustration UCA graduate, the artwork depicts key heritage sites around Aldershot, including the Cenotaph in Municipal Gardens, Cambridge Military Hospital and the Post Office building in the town centre. The design also features Nepali mandala patterns and poppies in tribute to Aldershot’s role as the Home of the British Army.

The project was funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Mikey Nevitt, Wey Valley CRP officer, said: “This installation brings colour to the mundane, transforming a typically unwelcoming space into one that feels vibrant and inviting.

“The artist, immensely talented UCA Farnham graduate Brianna Chartrand, has created a stunning piece that beautifully showcases many parts of the town in an incredibly colourful light. It perfectly aligns with Wey Valley CRP’s mission to make stations more engaging, using art to connect people, places, and creativity while fostering a sense of pride and community.”

Keith Dibble, Rushmoor Borough Council’s cabinet member for Development and Economic Growth, said: “This is a wonderful example of how collaboration between local businesses, artists and institutions can enhance the community and bring vibrancy to our public spaces.

“The ‘All Aboard’ installation beautifully captures the essence of Aldershot’s past and present, making it a fitting addition to the station and a source of pride for the community.”

Claire Lowe, brand and marketing manager at UCA, said: “We’re delighted to bring a burst of creativity from one of our talented graduates to a small pocket of Aldershot. We hope the vibrant visual celebration of the town will bring joy to commuters through the station.”
