As part of their Railway 200 celebrations, Barton-Cleethorpes Community Rail Partnership (CRP) has launched a special project entitled ‘Railway 200: Art Along the Line’.
The partnership wants to commemorate Railway 200 for years to come with a permanent art exhibition, and the project began with a series of art workshops to gather ideas from members of the public. A local artist has been commissioned to work on the artwork, and the finished mural will be unveiled at Cleethorpes Station on World Art Day (15 April 2025).
The CRP is also holding a photography and art competition, to engage local communities in developing art installations for display at other stations along the route. Submissions should reflect one of three categories: Railway 200, community rail or the Barton-Cleethorpes Line.
For full competition rules and to submit your entry, visit the Activities and Events page on the Barton-Cleethorpes CRP website.
Carl Thomas, chair of Barton-Cleethorpes CRP, said: “This is a special year for the rail industry. We want our unique art project to reflect railway heritage, community rail and the stunning scenery and architecture along our line, and we are holding competitions to ensure everyone can be part of our special celebrations.
“Our first installation will be launched at Cleethorpes Station on Tuesday 15 April 2025, World Art Day”.
