Hove Station hosted students from SupaJam specialist music college on Wednesday 30 April for a charity musical feast celebrating Autism Appreciation Month.
The event was supported by the Sussex Coast Line Community Rail Partnership (CRP), one of ten community rail lines covered by Southeast Communities Rail Partnership, as well as Southern Rail.
Students from SupaJam, a specialist post-16 music college, planned the busking event and risk assessment as part of their college course and were supported by staff from the college, station and CRP to make the event a success.
The budding musicians entertained passengers and passers-by during the afternoon, all whilst raising money for the National Autistic Society.

Kevin Boorman, chair of the Sussex Coast Line CRP, said: “Many top musicians started busking before they could fill stadiums on world tours and found that busking was a vital step in developing their skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for budding musicians to get that really important experience, not only to build up their confidence but also to get all important feedback. Who knows where their musical careers will lead to?”
Maria Humphreys, curriculum lead for Brighton from SupaJam, said: “We were really excited to entertain the passengers at Hove Station with our music! This was a great opportunity for our students, and we are very grateful to Hove Station for having us.”
