A new promotion encouraging people to take the train and walk the South West Coast Path has been launched at Penzance Station.
The promotion is the result of a collaboration between the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, South West Coast Path and Great Western Railway, and aims to encourage exploration of the Coast Path from five key railway stations in Cornwall.
New maps have been created for Looe, Newquay, Falmouth Town, Falmouth Docks and Penzance stations, with each one including a minimum of three circular walks which can be easily accessed from the station.

Rebecca Catterall, development officer for the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, said: “The South West Coast Path is a wonderful natural asset that can be accessed easily from a number of railway stations in Devon and Cornwall.
“We are thrilled to have worked with Great Western Railway and the team at the South West Coast Path to highlight these key gateway stations and hope that even more people will discover the Path by train.”
Aletha Mays, head of communications for the South West Coast Path Association, said: “Promoting sustainable transport to access the Coast Path is key to helping us preserve this incredible natural asset. The Rail to Trail walks provides the opportunity to explore stunning stretches of the trail from each railway station, and we look forward to seeing more people choosing to travel on the rail network as part of their Coast Path experience.”
Emma Morris, senior impact manager at Great Western Railway, said: “Great Western Railway is thrilled to collaborate with the South West Coast Path and the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership to promote this beautiful corner of the country.
“A train journey can be the start of an exciting adventure. Stepping out of the station and straight onto these walks that cover an incredible area of outstanding beauty, extends that adventure even further.
“We’re proud to be able fund these boards and encourage more visitors to explore the region.”
