Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership (ALCRP) has turned 17 this month!
The CRP team and volunteers will be marking the occasion with a special event on Saturday 18th June. Participants are invited to join the Abbey Trail walk, as well as two special private tours of the beautiful St Albans Cathedral, as well as Historic St Albans.
ALCRP will also be unveiling their new award-winning Abbey Trail leaflets, as well as giving out a few treats for participants.
Edna Woname, ALCRP Partnership Officer, said: “Over the last 17 years, the Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership has grown in terms of its community engagement, events, volunteering and passenger improvement projects. We are proud of what we have achieved but it is the support of our members, train operators and volunteers that continue to make it a success.
“With the support of St Albans Business Improvement District, local businesses and the train operator, we are marking this 17th birthday by inviting people to try the train and join us for a couple of private tours. We will also be unveiling our updated award-winning Abbey Line Trail leaflet which was first established in 2015, and takes in the picturesque Hertfordshire countryside, starting from Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey stations, meaning it can be done in combination with a train ride and a walk.”
ALCRP are encouraging as many visitors as possible to join the event via train – hop on the 9:46 train from Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey station, and the first tour will depart at 10:00.
Tickets for the tours are free and on a first-come-first-served basis. Book your place here.
