Accreditation celebrations for the Yorkshire Coast CRP

The Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership (CRP) is delighted to have received accreditation from the Department for Transport (DfT) in March 2023.

The Yorkshire Coast Line connects Hull with Scarborough, and the CRP is the local organisation which provides the link between local communities on the line and the rail industry.

Accreditation means that the DfT supports the objectives and action plans of the CRP and the way it operates. To demonstrate this, Yorkshire Coast CRP submitted financial and governance information, along with a summary of its achievements and a draft of its action plan for the year ahead. The Partnership was able to show a collaborative approach to its activities, representing the voices of the community, and delivering on the four Pillars of the DfT’s Community Rail Development Strategy.

Roger Gaitley of the Yorkshire Coast CRP commented: “Yorkshire Coast CRP was founded in 1996, and, in the intervening years, has aimed to provide a community-based rail focus to all the stations we serve between Hull and Scarborough.

“With the excellent guidance from Community Rail Network and their regional lead for the North, Martin Clarke, this was successfully achieved in 2023. As a result, we can now demonstrate to our key stakeholders and the local East Yorkshire community that they can have every confidence in us to develop new rail related projects and enhance as best we can the rail travelling experiences for our local community and the rail stations our volunteers serve every week.”

Martin Clarke, Community Rail Support and Sustainability Manager, said: “Congratulations to all involved with helping Yorkshire Coast CRP reach this stage and achieve accreditation. I have been extremely impressed by the group’s willingness to rise to challenges over the past 18 months. This accreditation is supported by Yorkshire Coast CRP committing to an ambitious, creative delivery plan that will make a real difference for communities along the length of the line.”
