Researchers from the Aston, Leeds and Sheffield Universities, the National Railway Museum (York), Museum of Science and Industry (Manchester) and The National Archives (Kew), are looking to undertake research into the links between slavery, supply chains linked to enslavement and the development of the early railway industry.
By the end of the project in 2029, the team hope to produce a travelling display and handbook using key findings, and groups will be able to bid for money from an engagement fund to run initiatives or events based on the research.
The team of researchers would like to hear from community rail partnerships that would be interested in hosting the display, using the research in their engagement work, or would be interested in bidding for money from the engagement fund.
If your community rail partnership is interested or would like more information, please email Dr David Turner at d.turner2@aston.ac.uk.
