Community Rail Network announces partnership with Morgan Sindall Infrastructure

Community Rail Network is pleased to announce a new partnership with Morgan Sindall Infrastructure.

Part of the wider Morgan Sindall Group, the company delivers some of the UK’s most complex and critical infrastructure projects. Within rail, its work focuses on renewing and enhancing the network to better connect communities, improve passenger experience and increase freight capacity. This includes station accessibility upgrades, platform extensions and electrification schemes across the UK.

As a corporate donor, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure will work closely with Community Rail Network and its members to support community rail activity in areas where the company is delivering or bidding for projects. This will create opportunities to connect infrastructure delivery with local community priorities, ensuring projects can bring wider benefits to the places they serve.

Initial areas of focus include collaboration with Transport for Greater Manchester, the TransPennine Route Upgrade, and the MetroWest scheme, which will reconnect Portishead to Bristol and deliver at least three new stations.

Alongside its technical expertise, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is committed to creating lasting social value. This partnership reflects a shared ambition to support and enrich communities, including through the company’s Travel for Life programme, which promotes safe, inclusive engagement with rail and local heritage for current and future generations.

Community Rail Network director of policy and communications Chris Birks, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome Morgan Sindall Infrastructure to Community Rail Network. This partnership brings together infrastructure expertise and community insight in a way that can make a genuine difference on the ground.

“Together, we share a clear ambition: ensuring investment in rail delivers wider benefits for communities, from improving access to stations and creating opportunities for local people, to supporting skills, inclusion and stronger local connections.”

Chris Dransfield, head of social value for Morgan Sindall Infrastructure (Rail), said: “We’re really pleased to be a Community Rail Network corporate donor in 2026 and excited about the new community engagement opportunities which this partnership brings.

“As a business, one of our ‘Total Commitments’ is to enhance the communities we’re working in and impacting on. Wherever we work, the primary ambition of our social value delivery is always aiming to add value to existing local initiatives, by working with local groups and organisations.

“Creating this opportunity to work closely with Community Rail Network and its members will help ensure we have the extended reach into local communities where we work, enabling and assisting our project teams to plan and develop sustainable local legacies through partnership.”
