Community Rail Week

Community Rail Week 2026 – Monday 1 to Sunday 7 June

Coordinated by Community Rail Network and sponsored by Rail Delivery Group, our flagship profile-raising campaign returns this June. Community Rail Week celebrates the value of community rail and the positive different it makes to people and places across Britain.

On this page you can explore this year’s campaign, find out how to get involved, and take inspiration from activities delivered in previous years.

Community Rail Week aims to:

  • Raise the profile of community rail through celebratory communications;
  • Amplify and elevate members’ activities and stories, providing a platform and tools to support impactful engagement and reach wider audiences;
  • Encourage and enable more people to use the train as a sustainable, healthy and inclusive way to travel, through local engagement and national communications;
  • Forge stronger partnerships and create collaborative opportunities with the rail industry, partners and supporters.

Journeys for All

Celebrating connections, inclusion and the journeys that bring people together is at the heart of this year’s Community Rail Week theme, ‘Journeys for All’. The theme shines a spotlight on the vital role community rail plays in fostering inclusion, strengthening local connections and breaking down barriers, helping ensure that everyone can access and enjoy rail travel.

How to get involved

Community Rail Week is a chance for everyone connected with community rail to get involved in celebrating the theme. Whether you are a member group, partner organisation or supporter, there are many ways to take part throughout the week – and involvement doesn’t have to mean hosting a physical event.

Activities can be online or in person, from digital promotions and storytelling to campaigns, partnerships and local initiatives. Every contribution, big or small, helps bring Community Rail Week to life and increases its reach and impact.

Below you’ll find helpful pages that outline practical ways you can get involved.
