Community Rail Week

Monday 20 to Sunday 26 May 2024

#MoreThanARailway

We’re excited to announce the theme for this year’s campaign is ‘More Than A Railway’. We’ll be using this message to generate curiosity and help secure media coverage on a national and regional level, shining a spotlight on the lesser-known community side of the railway and promoting its benefits.

We’re encouraging members, partners and supporters to plan now how you’ll get involved to showcase the importance of our railways and the inspiring work CRPs and station groups deliver year-round. See our briefing sheet for more detail on the theme, our plans and how you can get involved.

If you would like to discuss how your community rail partnership, station volunteer group, organisation or business can get involved in this year’s campaign, please get in touch with Alice Mannion, campaigns & leisure promotions officer, via email here.

Community Rail Week aims to:

  • Raise the profile of community rail through celebratory communications;
  • Amplify and elevate members’ activities and stories, providing them with a platform and tools to deliver impactful engagement and reach wider audiences;
  • Encourage and enable more people to use the train as a sustainable, healthy, inclusive way to travel, through local engagement and our communications;
  • Forge stronger partnerships and offer collaborative opportunities for working with the rail industry and wide-ranging partners and supporters.

22-28 May 2023

A huge thank you to everyone who got on board, running activities and events celebrating the theme of ‘Connecting Communities by Rail’ and highlighting the benefit your work brings to local communities. Special thanks to Rail Delivery Group, who sponsored the week. We could not have hoped for a better response from members, partners, and the public.
