Congratulations to Marie Addison, Northern’s Regional Community and Sustainability Manager (North East) who was awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours list.

Marie has worked in the rail industry since 1991 and has received her MBE for her work in supporting and enhancing local communities close to the railway in Northumberland.

In the course of her work Marie has established an impressive community network where many of the stations throughout the North East have been adopted by volunteer groups and community rail partnerships.  Marie has helped support community art projects, and many station gardens and floral displays.

Marie said, “I am totally overwhelmed to receive an honour such as this. I absolutely love my job and it’s a pleasure to come to work each day”.

Recently members of the Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership (TVCRP) presented Marie with a framed drawing of the iconic Wylam Signal Box drawn by Allan White, Infrastructure Director, TVCRP to commemorate the occassion.
