CRL seeking submissions for second volume of 100 Women, 100 Journeys

Following on from the success of the 100 Women, 100 Journeys project, Community Rail Lancashire (CRL) is seeking 100 more stories to feature in the second edition.

CRL is looking for 100 more women to tell a story about a journey they have taken via rail, either as a member of staff or a passenger, to inspire more women to look towards the rail industry for a potential career, or to remind them of the beauty of travelling by train.

The project first originated during March 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown when, because they couldn’t take groups out on train trips, CRL’s education team encouraged women to write about a memorable journey they had taken with the aim of compiling the stories into a book sharing the women’s recollections and experiences.

The booklet was launched online on International Women’s Day in March 2021, and a total of 1,400 booklets have been printed and handed out at stations across the country.

Submissions for the second volume should be no more than 500 words and must be submitted with a photograph. CRL is particularly keen to hear from women of different generations, countries, and backgrounds, as well as industry employees and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Click here to access the online form and submit your story by Friday 15 December.
