An initiative to encourage active travel in Berkshire was launched earlier this month at Wokingham Station. Dr Bike sessions are free and are carried out by experienced bike mechanics, checking everything from wheels, brakes, gears and tyre pressure to lights, racks, pedals and saddles. Any minor adjustments can be carried out straight away. For issues that cannot be fixed immediately, the mechanics will explain exactly what is needed to do to get the bicycle fixed.
The mechanics are friendly and have a wealth of cycling knowledge, from cycle training to the cycling activity available in the region. For example you can take a South Western Train service with an off-road bike to Bracknell Forest for an incredible off-roading experience.
The Dr Bike sessions are sponsored by Wokingham Council, with support with South Western Railways. Take a look at Southeast Communities Rail Partnership‘s Twitter feed – @SoutheastCRP, for further information.
