Friends of Goostrey Station help Crewe to Manchester CRP ‘map out’ a creative weekend at Crewe Heritage Centre

Friends of Goostrey Station joined Crewe to Manchester CRP for a weekend of creativity in celebration of Community Rail Week. Artist and Friends of Goostrey Station member, Debbie Goldsmith, was comissioned by Crewe to Manchester CRP to deliver an interactive display to complement their special event at Crewe Heritage Centre on 28 and 29 May.

Visitors throughout the weekend (28 – 29 May) were encouraged to contribute to a large-scale map of the area with many families drawing local railway lines and adding stations. Families were inspired by Debbie’s own artwork on display and were encouraged to join her in future workshops at Goostrey Art Studio, based in the restored Victorian building on platform one at Goostrey Station.

The event at Crewe Heritage Centre was organised by Crewe to Manchester CRP in celebration of Community Rail Week with other community rail partners in attendance including South East Manchester CRP. Crewe to Manchester CRP had also organised for a display of Eamonn Murphy’s ‘Station Connections’ artwork, that also proved popular thoughout the special event weekend.
