The Friends of Goostrey Station are celebrating after successfully bidding for grant funding to improve their station-based arts venue.
The group lovingly renovated a Victorian station building to create Goostrey Art Studio, and the new funding will go towards installing much-needed facilities they were unable to fit when the wooden building was initially restored in 2019.
The group applied to the National Lottery Awards for All scheme, highlighting how their project matched the Community Fund criteria of making a positive difference to communities, and bringing people together to improve community cohesion.
Local artist Debbie Goldsmith is coordinating events at the ‘not for profit’ studio, and she wants to offer regular art-based activities for local groups. Rainbows, Beavers, and Cubs from Goostrey and Holmes Chapel have already booked workshops in.
Debbie said: “Exciting times are ahead and we are thrilled to be awarded the grant. It’s such an amazing space to work in and I am really looking forward to opening it up to our community. I haven’t stopped smiling since I heard the good news!”
