Community rail development officer vacancy – Hounslow & Richmond CRP

The Hounslow & Richmond Community Rail Partnership (HRCRP) is seeking a new officer to help further connect locals with the railway in the Hounslow and Richmond area.

  • Part Time: 28 hours per week
  • Salary: £25,000 Pro rata
  • Three-year fixed term contract

This exciting opportunity is offered for a self-motivated individual, with excellent interpersonal skills, to help further connect the community with its railway.

You will be home based and work with the chair and Steering Group of Hounslow and Richmond Community Rail Partnership, focusing on the stations between Barnes and Feltham (via Brentford and Twickenham). You will be responsible for developing and delivering an activity plan to:

  • be a voice for the local communities
  • promote sustainable and healthy travel
  • involve diverse groups
  • support social / economic development
  • gain funding for projects
  • handle marketing and communications and support station adoption groups
  • develop a Try a Train project, encouraging marginalised groups to travel by train.

Working on your own initiative and in collaboration with local stakeholders, you will use your creativity and organisational skills to deliver projects that benefit all involved. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.

No two days will be the same and applicants will require some flexibility of hours, balancing home working with meetings at/near stations. A duty pass for South Western Railway will be provided to allow travel on the network.

The ideal candidate will be able to bring both the railway and local communities closer; in addition to helping boast the local economy, increase interest in rail travel and successfully bid for funding to support the delivery of community focused programmes.

Please apply to Paula Aldridge, community rail manager, South Western Railways at paula.aldridge@swrailway.com for a copy of the Job Application Form.

Deadline for applications is 5pm Friday 2nd July 2021 with interviews thereafter (format to be advised).
