Network Rail is calling on community rail to get involved with the organisation’s charitable theme for Control Period 7 (2024-2029) – Suicide Prevention and Mental Health.
Rather than forming national charitable partnerships for the next control period, Network Rail’s regions and functions will have the opportunity to create local charitable partnerships that align with their local priorities, including linking with community rail partnerships and station groups.
Many projects delivered across the community rail movement have clear links to the theme of Suicide Prevention and Mental Health, including:
- Tackling loneliness with transport
- Improving physical and mental wellbeing through volunteering
- Promoting and protecting biodiversity
- Improving station environments
- Encouraging social inclusion
- Engaging with young people
All Network Rail employees receive up to 5 days of volunteer leave per year, which can be used to support community rail activities.
If your community rail partnership or station group has a project that aligns with this charitable theme, or opportunities for Network Rail employees to support via volunteering, please get in touch on communityrail@networkrail.org.uk or speak to your usual community rail lead contact within Network Rail.
