How you can get involved with our ‘Days Out by Rail’ campaign

Our tourism and leisure campaign, Days Out by Rail, returns this autumn from Monday 14 October to Sunday 3 November, and we’re inviting everyone in community rail to get involved.

Now in its fourth year, the campaign aims to encourage more people to take the train for greener, healthier leisure journeys. Themed content throughout the three-week campaign will be delivered through our Scenic Rail Britain website and social media channels.

Content for the campaign will be driven by local insights and knowledge from across community rail and this is where we need your help.

We are encouraging members to get involved and showcase ideas for greener days out and longer stays, linking in with any work that’s already being delivered in your partnership or group. You can send us your content via email here: news@communityrail.org.uk

We are looking for suggestions on the following topics/themes:

  • Family fun – family friendly places to visit and explore
  • Autumn adventures – outdoor activities including walking and hiking trails (please include details of any step-free accessible routes that we can highlight), cycling routes, golf, extreme sports, boating etc.
  • Stay for longer – things to do that would need more than a day out such as a long-distance walk, or a destination with lots of places to visit that would need at least an overnight stay, or an itinerary to explore a few destinations along your line
  • On a budget – things to do for free or low-cost including attractions with free entry, money off incentives in your area etc.
  • Eerie places to visit this Halloween – spooky events and things to do in your area for Halloween, this could include attractions hosting special events or highlighting haunted history in your area.

If you would like to discuss more about how you can get involved or would like advice specific to your area, please get in touch with Alice Mannion, our campaigns & leisure promotions coordinator.
