Cambridgeshire’s Meldreth, Shepreth and Foxton Community Rail Partnership have launched three competitions in partnership with Govia Thameslink Railway to keep young community railers occupied during the current lockdown period.
The three competition that have been launched are:
- Plant a seed: asking people to plant seeds in their own houses or gardens that can be transferred to the partnership’s station gardens and tubs when lockdown is over.
- A writing competition: a chance to write on various topics that include a travel by train theme.
- An art competition: on the theme of a trip you’ve taken, a place you love or a person you’re keeping in touch with during lockdown.
The Plant a seed is open to everyone, and home planters will be rewarded with packets of wildflower seeds for their home or school.
The writing and art competitions are open to two groups: aged 10 and under, and aged 11-17. Prizes will include family off-peak return tickets for Great Northern, Southern or Thameslink.
