Mid Cheshire Line CRP shares ‘how to’ guide for hosting Music Train events

The Mid Cheshire Line Community Rail Partnership (CRP), in collaboration with organiser Michael Ross, have developed guidance for other CRPs who are interested in developing their own programme of Music Trains.

The guidance covers all aspects of staging a Music Train event, including building an audience, train routes and timings, and the logistics of hosting a range of musicians and performers on a moving train.

The Mid Cheshire CRP host special Music Trains annually and return this year with a full summer programme from April to October 2023.

The monthly Music Trains will run from Chester to Plumley and Altrincham to Chester all the way through summer and into the autumn months.

Music Trains organiser Michael Ross said: “Music Trains, Folk Trains, or any trains with music on them promote the railway, attract people to use it and, above all, are fun. Fun for the passengers, fun for the musicians, and (mostly) fun for the organisers!”

You can access the guidance document here.

The Mid Cheshire Line CRP’s next Music Train event is on 26 April, when three bands (Full House, Time Bandits and Kingfisher) will play and sing on a train from Chester to the Golden Pheasant pub in Plumley to promote the Chester Folk Festival.

All the information about upcoming Music Trains can be found on the Mid Cheshire Line CRP’s website.
