New Marshlink Line CRP vice chair excited to help connect local communities by rail

The Marshlink Line Community Rail Partnership (CRP) is proud to have elected Sarah Broadbent as its new vice chair.

The Marshlink Line is one of Southeast Communities Rail Partnership’s 10 community rail lines and covers stations between Hastings and Ashford International.

Sarah Broadbent, chair of 1066 Country Marketing and vice chair of the Rye Chamber of Commerce, was elected vice chair of the Marshlink Line after the CRP’s steering group meeting on Friday 14 November.

Sarah replaces former Ashford Borough Councillor Mick Burgess, who passed away in February 2025. Mick had been Marshlink vice chair for five years and a member of the community rail partnership for more than 10 years.

Sarah said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Marshlink Line Community Rail Partnership as vice chair and look forward to working closely with the community.

“I am passionate about joining the dots in the community, and I feel that having a presence on the group here will help consolidate the work that I already do with 1066 and with Rye Chamber.”

Kevin Boorman, chair of the Marshlink Line CRP, said: “I’m very happy to be working with Sarah. I’ve known her for many years and she’s passionate about the area, she’s passionate about tourism, she’s passionate about the environment. She’s a perfect fit for the line.”
