Grand Central

Grand Central is an open access operator, providing direct, long-distance rail services between London and northern England. They proudly deliver a Station Ambassador Programme; a volunteer initiative created to provide a welcoming presence at stations where staff were not always available. Since its conception in 2010, the programme has grown into a network of over 80 ambassadors who support passengers, promote local destinations, and strengthen links between Grand Central Rail and the communities it serves.

As part of an exciting partnership with Community Rail Network, the programme will focus on introducing new volunteers around Bradford Interchange, recruiting up to 20 young and diverse volunteers aged 18–25 to build rail confidence, gain employability skills, and take part in meaningful community-focused station activity. The joint project will act as a model for future expansion, helping Grand Central Rail enhance community engagement, increase ambassador diversity and representation at key stations, and deepen collaboration with local education and community organisations.
