Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK running 2500 services a day to over 500 stations across the North of England. We serve many wonderful and diverse communities across the region, which is why we’re strong supporters of the community rail partnerships and station adoption groups on our network.

They build strong links with the communities we serve, helping to raise awareness of the role the railway can play in connecting people with opportunities, delivering activities to address social isolation and exclusion, and promoting sustainable futures.

Each community is different, and that’s why community rail groups are so important to help foster greater understanding of local needs. The work and projects of our community rail partners also align closely with our own business plans with many examples of individual projects that have gone on to deliver benefits for communities across the network and beyond.
