Scenic Rail Britain is a rail tourism and leisure travel initiative by Community Rail Network, sponsored by Trainline. It aims to inspire people to take a greener day out, short break or longer trip by rail, by showcasing Britain’s hidden gems, stunning landscapes, charming towns and villages, vibrant cities, and fascinating attractions accessible by rail and other public transport.

Many people don’t realise the scope for exploring Britain (and beyond!) by rail. Making use of the wonderful, often little-known lines and stations cared for and promoted by community rail is a great way to do this, while avoiding the stress and pollution of driving and parking, treading lightly on these special places, and reducing your climate impact.

Drawing on local knowledge and insights from community rail partnerships and station groups, the Scenic Rail Britain site boasts over 80 community rail lines with exciting itineraries and suggestions of things to see and do.
