A new blossom-inspired collage has been launched at Plymouth Station by pupils from Calstock Primary School.
The artwork is a collaboration between the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, Cotehele National Trust and Great Western Railway.
Inspired by Cotehele’s annual Blossom Festival and funded through the People’s Postcode Lottery, the artwork was co-created by the pupils and artist Cathy Harrison.
Using old magazines and junk mail, the children created colourful collages inspired by the railway, Cotehele and blossom, which were then woven together to form one large artwork.

Rebecca Catterall, Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership development officer, said: “This project has been a fantastic collaboration with Cotehele National Trust. It will not only really enhance the space at Plymouth Station, but I hope it will inspire visitors to the station to visit the Tamar Valley and Cotehele.”
Rebekah Mason, senior programming and partnerships officer at Cotehele National Trust, said: “We have been celebrating blossom in the Tamar Valley for several years now as it brings hope and light after the long winter. We hope this artwork brings joy to all who see it at Plymouth Station.”
Emma Morris, senior community impact manager at Great Western Railway, said: “We are thrilled to see this beautiful artwork come to Plymouth to showcase not only the beauty of the city, but also the creativity of all the children who have contributed to making it.
“It’s been wonderful working together with the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, and the National Trust to support the local community and see this idea come to life. I hope that this addition to the station will inspire people to hop on a train to visit the Tamar Valley and Cotehele.”
