Chris Birks

Chris works to amplify the voices of community rail partnerships, station groups, and passengers – ensuring insight from the platform feeds directly into rail reform, the devolution agenda, and the development of Great British Railways, as well as wider decision-making across the rail industry.

Alongside a lifelong love of rail travel, Chris brings a strong focus on how reform of the rail system can better deliver for communities – particularly through local accountability, integrated transport, accessibility, and inclusive growth.

Chris previously served as head of communications for the Mayor of the East Midlands and led regional communications and engagement work for the UK’s largest trade union. He also spent more than a decade in broadcast media in the UK and Middle East.

Outside work, Chris is a youth leader at his church, a charity trustee, school governor, and a devoted Formula 1 fan.
