Marion Atkinson

Board member
Vice chair

Marion works as a rail support officer at the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and has been involved in community rail for over twenty years. She has worked in transport for thirty years.

Marion has chaired two community rail partnerships and ensured a further one was removed from special measures with an improved plan and sustainable future. Marion was instrumental in founding and chairing the award-winning Women in Community Rail, a movement which has grown and remains a support to all of its members. She is also the first female leader of Sefton Council and has recently been successful in moving the Councils children's services department from inadequate to good. She also improved the adult social care department to CQC-rated good and has also been recognised as an inspirational leader for the community after the tragedy in Southport in July 2024.
