Community Rail Network > Team > Shahiesta Raja
Shahiesta has worked as an Education Development Officer with Community Rail Lancashire since 2019 after 20 years of teaching Religious Education in secondary schools. She is a passionate advocate for community rail and believes in empowering marginalised communities to gain confidence and independence through train travel.
Over the last five years, Shahiesta has worked with children and adults from all backgrounds to promote the concept of linking the community to the railway, helping to set up the first South Asian Muslim women’s station adoption group in the country.
A proud Northerner, she lives in Lancashire and is keen to discover as much of the north by train as she can!
