Community Rail News – 22 December 2021

22 Dec, 2021

Hi everyone. We hope you’re looking forward to the festive break, despite the ongoing uncertainties and challenges. We know many are facing last minute changes of plans and difficult decisions, and hope that doesn’t prevent you from having a restful and happy Christmas and new year, and that you and your loved ones stay safe and well.

Community Rail Awards

Congratulations again to all this year’s winners. Read about all these examples of community rail delivering impact in our winners’ booklet, and watch the event back. We’ve also been working with winners to issue press releases: if you spot coverage, please email news@communityrail.org.uk. We also want to thank the Community Rail Network team, who worked incredibly hard to make our first hybrid awards special, and everyone who attended, in person and online.

Community Rail Conference – save the date

The Community Rail Conference, in partnership with the Department for Transport, will take place Mon 7 & Tues 8 March at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham. Aimed at CRP chairs and officers, this two-day event (currently planned as in-person) will provide a chance for briefings, training and networking on a broad range of topics. Registration opens in January via invitations to CRPs; the draft programme will also be available early in the new year. Keep an eye on our events diary.spot coverage, please email news@communityrail.org.uk.

Great British Railways call for evidence

The Great British Railways Transition Team has put out a call for evidence for the Whole Industry Strategic Plan to help shape the strategic plan and the future of the railway. Community rail partnerships and station groups are encouraged to share their views. The deadline for submission is 4 Feb 2022, and you can respond to as many or few of the questions as is relevant. Find out more.

Your next bulletin is on 12 January. Keep up-to-date in between on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Wishing you all a peaceful and safe Christmas,
Richard & Jools
