Host a community rail ‘Great Get Together’ this June

Community rail partnerships and station volunteer groups are encouraged to get involved with this year’s Great Get Together (21-23 June 2024).

The Great Get Together is the UK’s annual celebration of everything that unites our communities, inspired by the message of Jo Cox MP that ‘we all have more in common than that which divides us’. This June, on what would have been Jo’s 50th birthday, the Jo Cox Foundation hopes her message will continue to inspire communities to bring people together. And, few things connect us more, both literally and figuratively, than railways and stations.

Jo Cox was a strong supporter of community rail – she was, and remains, vice chair of the Friends of Batley Station, and understood the central role the station played in the local community.

There are many ways to take part in the Great Get Together – whether that be through hosting a station open day, leading walks from stations, welcoming commuters, or any other kind of community engagement event.

If you’re interested in running a Great Get Together event, view the toolkit to get started.

You can also contact your usual support and development team contact or our comms team if you would like further support in setting up an event and sharing your messages.
