Impact reporting tool
About the Tool
Our Impact tool is especially designed for those working and volunteering in community rail, offering an easy-to-use way to record, assess, demonstrate and evidence the outcomes your work is achieving. It can be used in lots of different ways – it’s entirely up to you! – for individual projects, or certain aspects of your work, or for recording all your activities to help you report to funders.
The tool was created by a social enterprise called Impact Reporting, working with Community Rail Network, and is offered to our members free of charge. The information you put in is only available to you, but you can use it to generate reports that you can share with partners and through your communications showing what you’ve achieved.
The tool is user-friendly and suitable for small groups who want to build a picture of the work they do, as well as larger community rail partnerships with multiple strands of work. The platform can also act as a survey tool to gather information and views from your community.
For tips and advice on using Impact have a look at the quick-start user guide and for guidance on how to generate reports and surveys, download our guidance below. Community Rail Network’s training team can also provide advice to help you get set up.

How do we sign up?
Members can request an Impact account from impact@communityrail.org.uk and we’ll send a user agreement for you to sign. There is no obligation to use the platform once you have an account so you can have a look and see if it might work for you.
We’ve put together some FAQs about how the platform works and how you can get the most out of it, a quick-start user guide and we’ll be offering on-going support.
Scheduled Impact demos are advertised on our Training & webinars diary.
